Facilities Officer

Role Description

The Facilities Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Dagenham, responsible for ensuring that the Youth Zone building and grounds are safe, clean, secure, and well-maintained. The role involves overseeing day-to-day facilities operations, including routine inspections, basic repairs, coordinating contractors, managing cleaning standards, and ensuring that equipment and systems are functioning effectively. The Facilities Officer helps maintain compliance with health and safety procedures, supports risk assessments, and ensures that fire safety and emergency systems are regularly checked and documented. They work closely with colleagues, visitors, and young people to provide a positive experience, responding promptly to facilities-related queries and issues. The role may include occasional evening or weekend work to support Youth Zone activities and events.

Qualifications

• Strong Facilities Operations and Facility Management (FM) skills, including experience with building maintenance, inspections, and coordinating contractors.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety practices, including risk assessments, fire safety procedures, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Effective Communication and Customer Service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with young people, colleagues, suppliers, and visitors.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance tasks safely and efficiently.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
• Experience in a community, education, youth, or leisure facility setting is an advantage.
• Basic IT skills for record-keeping, reporting issues, and managing maintenance schedules.
