Your Role in Building Brighter Futures

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a vital role in supporting learning and complementing the professional work of teachers across the school. This role involves leading whole-class sessions under supervision, supporting pupils with additional needs, and contributing to planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing the needs of pupils and using specialist skills to support learning.
  • Delivering learning activities to whole classes or groups under supervision.
  • Supporting and promoting inclusion, independence, and engagement.
  • Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress and development.
  • Planning, preparing, and evaluating lessons and learning materials.
  • Supporting teachers with administrative tasks and assessments.
  • Supervising pupils during lesson times, break times, and on trips.
  • Contributing to the development of EHCPs and pupil progress reports.
  • Using ICT and specialist resources to enhance pupil learning.
  • Collaborating with external professionals and supporting parental engagement.

What You’ll Bring to Futura

We are looking for an experienced and motivated HLTA who:

  • Has a good general education (5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C or above).
  • Holds HLTA status or Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Is a qualified first aider.
  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting children in a classroom setting.
  • Understands the principles of child development and the barriers to learning.
  • Can use a range of strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
  • Is an effective communicator with both pupils and adults.
  • Has strong ICT skills and the ability to support learning through technology.
  • Demonstrates initiative, collaboration, and a commitment to professional development.
