Our OEM Client based in Leamington is searching for a Systems Test Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a 12-month contract position initially until 31st March 2026, with the potential for further extensions.

This role is key to enabling the laboratory and supports the Lead Engineer for the ongoing operation of the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dyno with Power Electronics assessment capability. You will be in direct technical engagement with university academia and 3rd party engineering teams supporting your lead engineer in the understanding of the test requirements in detail.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • The operation of the environmental chassis emissions dyno and the necessary physical activity of pre-check and preparation of vehicle for test.
  • Emission test benches, test reporting, including but not limited to the installation and instrumentation of the unit under test.
  • Working collaboratively and in conjunction with the laboratory customers.
  • Reporting and providing explanation of the resulting test data as required.

As a core objective, you will be involved with your Lead Engineer for the operation of the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dyno with Power Electronics assessment capability. The Chassis Dyno capability within the laboratory is expected to be utilised by the customer and sought after in terms of 3rd party projects, as such you will be engaged with one of the key laboratory capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with customers to derive complete technical test requirements, consulting, understanding and developing test methodology.
  • Operation of facilities and support all processes to defined H&S and other auditable requirements to ISO standards, 16949, 14001 etc.
  • Monitoring and working with the team to transfer knowledge to new team associates where required.
  • Deriving and delivering familiarisation of equipment for both new and current personnel as required.
  • Core accountability of physical operation and upkeep of facility.

Skills required:

  • Experience in AVL SCADA, PUMA, CAMEO & ETAS INCA, as applied to a manual and automated engine test facility ICE emissions measurement and initial quality evaluation, both in test bed and chassis dyno applications.
  • Experience in rig/laboratory based technical test and evaluation processes in the field of ICE systems, with a comprehensive understanding of the engineering discipline.
  • Desire to further develop your own and your team's technical understanding in the field.
  • Ability to evaluate and explain test methodologies and facility capabilities.
  • A good understanding of laboratory equipment capability and flexibility.
  • Good activity execution skills.
  • Good planning and programme management skills.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at operational level.
  • Experience working in a technically contributing role within an ICE engineering environment.
