Our OEM Client based in Gaydon is searching for a Senior Towing & Carrying Engineer to join their team on an Inside IR35 contract. Umbrella Pay Rate: £33.64 per hour.
Working in the growing Towing and Carrying team within the Vehicle Capability and Dependability department, the aim of the senior towing and carrying engineer role is to ensure efficient delivery of products that meet or exceed all customer expectations for Towing and Carrying performance. Following system engineering principles, this is achieved through attribute target setting, requirement decomposition and verification and validation sign off using both virtual and physical test methods. To ensure optimum design and delivery, the role will strive to continuously improve processes, methods and solutions.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Ownership, management, validation and development of a number of vehicle level towing and carrying requirements and targets.
- Ensure robust SMART requirements and targets are cascaded and accepted within all relevant engineering teams including function groups, system and component teams.
- Champion through systems engineering principles the development, integration and design verification (DV) plans to ensure accumulating evidence through vehicle programme to ensure delivery of vehicle sign off on time to requirements.
- Ensure clear status for towing attribute across all programme panel charts.
- Ensure zero towing issues at programme job 1.
- Support the development of towing and carrying features and designs for future vehicle solutions.
- Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices, industry movements and future trends.
- Ensure robust championing and closeout prevent recurrence actions.
Skills/Experience Required
- Experience in towing trailers and using trailer towing hardware.
- Knowledge / experience of automotive technologies or systems.
- Knowledge / experience of engineering test activities.
Skills / Experience Preferred
- Experience in Features development, delivery and validation.
- Broad knowledge of vehicle and towing technologies.
- Project management of complex engineering test activities.
- Understanding of Systems engineering principles and delivery.
- Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering and cross functional experience.
- Microsoft package elements Power Point and Excel.
- Experience in vehicle level Towing & Carrying development, testing and validation.
- Knowledge/Experience of AGILE working principles.
- Working knowledge CAD visualisation systems (e.g. 3Dx, TeamCentre etc.).
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
