Our OEM Client based in Gaydon is searching for a System Test and Validation Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position with a proposed end date of 31st March 2027. Umbrella Pay Rate: £35.80 per hour.

The Opportunity: We are looking for a driven and passionate System Test and Validation Engineer to join us in developing a truly exciting and forward‑thinking product—one you can believe in, advocate for, and take pride in delivering. This role sits at the heart of our connected car platform, which underpins our luxury vehicles and delivers seamless digital experiences to our customers. You will take ownership of validating system features that enable this platform, ensuring high quality, robustness, and a defect‑free user experience from concept through to delivery. You will play a key role in shaping validation strategies and continuously improving test processes, with a strong focus on automation, reuse of existing test assets, and leveraging established validation practices across the business. Working on our current technology landscape, you’ll be part of an ambitious transformation—evolving today’s features into next‑generation digital capabilities that will help take Jaguar Land Rover into a new digital era and support our journey toward a carbon‑neutral fleet this decade.

In short, we are seeking someone with a genuine passion for the automotive industry—an engineer who is confident making decisions, takes ownership, and operates independently without reliance on escalation or close supervision. Duties:

  • Creating detailed test plans to align with software release plans.
  • Leading the test team, setting priorities and monitoring progress of test plans.
  • Designing test cases and scenarios to ensure requirement coverage.
  • Review test artifacts to ensure quality and consistency of test cases, test scripts and test reports.
  • Driving the test execution and reporting test results.
  • End to end testing on vehicles to ensure feature has achieved delivery maturity.
  • Tracking defects and liaising with both internal and external teams to ensure timely resolution.

Essential Skills, Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Test strategy and test planning at system level with focus on real-world usage scenarios and failure modes.
  • Defect Lifecycle management.
  • Strong hands‑on understanding of automotive architecture and protocols like CAN, Ethernet (SomeIP/DoIP).
  • Experience in using logging and measurement tools like Vector CANoe, Intrepid, etc.
  • Vehicle and test rig level experience including flashing ECUs.
  • Understanding of automotive systems, practices and procedures.
