Our OEM Client based in Solihull is searching for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position with a proposed end date of 31st March 2027. Umbrella Pay Rate: £27.03 per hour.
Duties
Vehicle NVH is a key technical function within the product creation process, leading engineering activities from initial concept through to customer delivery. Within this department, you will help define the unique character of our vehicles by delivering the levels of refinement required to meet customer expectations across all Jaguar and Land Rover programmes. This work is fundamental to creating products that delight our customers and differentiate us from the competition. The Attributes Refinement Group operates across the full vehicle lifecycle, incorporating Prevention, Launch, and In‑Service Performance. The primary focus areas include Squeak & Rattle (S&R) and Water and Air Ingress across the full vehicle portfolio. The team engages from the earliest phases of a vehicle programme and works collaboratively across Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality. It is responsible for achieving attribute targets, conducting complete‑vehicle testing, identifying issues, and driving robust resolutions. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing customer satisfaction by ensuring vehicles are free from abnormal noises (S&R) and water leaks.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Gathering and analysing facts to clearly define problems.
- Applying strong negotiation and influencing skills to drive effective resolution using 8D and other industry‑standard quality tools.
- Managing issues originating internally—through Manufacturing, Fleet, Durability, and Robustness testing—as well as externally through Warranty data and IQS surveys.
Skills Required
- Automotive / Engineering degree or equivalent automotive experience preferred.
- Ability to plan work/events and organise detailed activity to deliver the outcomes.
- Ability to lead and resolve complex issues through leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrable problem-solving experience e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving.
- Good experience of quality tools (8D, Fish bone, FTA, PDCA, 5Y etc).
- Ability to analyse large data that translates into next actions.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly (Have a Growth Mind-set).
- Demonstrate good negotiation skills to promote issues to the next phase of investigation.
- A proactive and personable nature to engage with cross-functional areas.
- Microsoft package elements such as PowerPoint and Excel to an intermediate level.
- Knowledge and understanding of automotive manufacturing processes.
- Ability to deliver presentations to work groups and senior management.
- A full UK driving licence.
Education Required
- Automotive / Engineering degree or equivalent automotive experience preferred.
