Our OEM Client based in Gaydon, is searching for a Junior PED Attribute Engineerto join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position until 31st March 2026.
Umbrella Pay Rate: £27.03 per hour.
Accountabilities:
The Propulsion Efficiency Engineer is responsible for supporting the PED Lead Engineers and the Chapter Leader with data analysis, summaries and judgement to support the delivery of Propulsion Efficiency Attribute and Features across various vehicle architectures and powertrains.
A Propulsion Efficiency Engineer\’s scope of work spans the entire vehicle development cycle, contributing to targets definition, competitors benchmark analysis, management of attribute inputs and trades, vehicle development and sign off to brand DNA.
We are looking for a Junior Engineer to add to our dynamic and growing team, with specific focus on ICE, MHEV and PHEV programmes. The successful candidate will work on the continuous development and yearly updates of our lineup of vehicles with combustion engines, supporting the Lead Engineers in the delivery of Propulsion Efficiency.
The role will focus mainly on the delivery of Fuel Economy on markets such as Japan, Gulf States, Mexico, Brazil, and several other Overseas countries which are subject to complex and specific regulation.
The successful candidate should be someone with good data analysis and reporting skills, able to read and understand Automotive Regulations as required, with the ability to learn and adapt fast, operating under fluid and tight deadlines, to support the timely delivery of Fuel Economy and Hybrid Range properties for a wide range of markets and products.
Main Responsibilities:
- The PED Attribute Engineer supports the definition of robust targets alongside Lead Engineers and AGILE Squads within the Powertrain Department.
- Supports the delivery Propulsion Efficiency attribute targets on Model Year and/or Vehicle Lines.
- Supports vehicle level testing at both virtual and physical property level as required.
The responsibilities include:
- To keep PED tools and documents up to date with the latest attribute metrics.
- To analyse test data to generate attribute status reports for each vehicle line, create meaningful comparison with historic data, compliance data and other vehicle lines.
- To calculate attribute status and robust declarable metrics.
- To support test and development activities as required by Lead Engineers and/or Chapter Leader.
- To interface with Powertrain Product Squads, Homologation and Certification Teams and Vehicle Engineering Teams as required.
Skills Required:
- Must understand the physics behind vehicle efficiency, cycle energy demand, PHEV electric range, by academic knowledge or direct work experience. (Essential)
- Must have significant working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. (Essential)
- Must have knowledge of requirements and standards reading, interpreting and writing. Experience is desirable. (Essential)
- Education; 1st degree in Automotive Engineering or equivalent. (Essential)
- Driving Licence. (Essential)
- Location – UK, Gaydon – must be able to sort out own travel. (Essential)
- Experience in vehicle fuel economy declarations. (Desirable)
- Knowledge of fundamentals of statistics. (Desirable)
Education Required:
- Degree in Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
Additional Information:
- Flexible working arrangements – opportunity to work from home on some days but needs to be able to come to the office any day.
