Our OEM Client based in Gaydon is searching for a Whole Vehicle Concepts Lead Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position with a proposed end date of 31st March 2027. Umbrella Pay Rate: £33.64 per hour.
This role is part of the Off-Cycle Projects arm in the VAVE team. As a Vehicle Concepts Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for generating CAD schemes to support the generation of the upper body and/or under body package layout in the Concept phase (pre-CS to KO) across all new products, in order to meet the Engineering, Manufacturing and Design requirements.
Your key interactions will be mainly but not exclusively with VAVE (Forward Model Architectures, Pre-KO VEM, TGLs, ZI Technical Specialists and SMEs, Human Factors, VE Attribute teams including Weight, TASE, Vehicle Efficiency), Body and Chassis Concepts, Studio Feas, Design, Body Structural Integration & Advanced Powertrain.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:- Competency in laying out Upper body hard points: Occupant Positioning across all seats, IP & Console, steering column, base of screen, pedals, ingress/egress, trunk dimensioning and usability.
- Competency in laying out Underbody hard points: Groundlines, Attitude planes, running clearance, approach/departure, front & rear end length for Vehicle Safety/SI Requirements, key Axle points, Tyre Envelopes and EDU/ICE Dynamic motion wraps.
- Understands the interdependencies between Upper body & Underbody requirements (including Legals).
- Fully competent in CAD creation and visualisation preferably Catia V6.
- Self-starter able to sustain a high, multitask workload.
- Combine Engineering with business skills.
- Ability to work within a team or alone with exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Must have good presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate to all levels within the company (production line to director level).
