Our OEM Client based in Whitley, Coventry, is searching for an Instrumentation Planning Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a maternity cover contract position with a proposed end date of 28th February 2027. Umbrella Pay Rate: £28.43 per hour.
Duties:
- Responsible for establishing baseline criteria to plan and schedule workload relative to various engineering projects.
- Carry out necessary preplanning to examine scope of work, resources, engineering material and quantities and financial impact.
Responsibilities typically include:
- Manage projects/processes, working independently with limited supervision.
- Develop and maintain a build plan, ensuring alignment with programme timelines.
- Produce weekly reports to visualise demand, capacity and build progress for leadership and stakeholders.
- Review new build requests in the published workplan and ensure accurate scheduling.
- Track build status and task progression through a JIRA board and local tools, escalating issues when necessary.
- Identify instrumentation and material requirements for each build and along with long lead items.
- Request and evaluate quotations, manage supplier interactions, support order placement and delivery.
- Conduct weekly cross functional meetings with engineering, operations, procurement, and programme teams.
- Capture requirements through stakeholder discussions.
- Engage with internal customers to understand build requirements and translate them into formal requests on our internal tool.
- Interact with the vehicle and engine build planners, assist when necessary.
- Update the Instrumentation Resource Chart on a weekly basis.
- Assist the Lead Planner when required.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Knowledge of vehicle and HV battery systems, components and instrumentation.
- Strong IT skills including experience using Excel and PowerPoint to a competent creator level.
- Must be able to communicate complex information with confidence.
- Must be willing to learn and adapt to changing situations whilst demonstrating accountability for actions.
- Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail.
- Must be able to document essential information.
- Must be a ‘Team Player' with the ability to work independently when required.
- Knowledge of maintaining a JIRA board or similar system.
Essential Education Required:
- Degree educated or equivalent experience in similar role.
