Our OEM Client based in Solihull is searching for an Engineering Liaison Senior Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a 12-month contract position initially until 31st March 2026, with the potential for further extensions.
Umbrella Pay Rate: £33.64 per hour.
Working within the Product Engineering Function, the Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) is based at the Solihull Plant. PVT is a group function of the Product Engineering Quality Domain and is a multi-disciplined Team that provides key services to current car quality improvement activities. It provides support to the production plant, providing technical and problem-solving skills, managing external quality signals through Customer Warranty and co-ordinating Engineering Change.
This opportunity is to lead and drive activities that will reduce manufacturing variability on the Solihull vehicle lines, reduce the external functional faults and robustly introduce engineering change, and in turn deliver against the KPIs set out in the quarterly business reviews.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:- Current Car internal and external customer KPI monitoring and reporting, demonstrating understanding on deteriorating metrics and communicating vehicle line status for review.
- PD AIMS Governance, maintaining integrity and robustness of current car aims deck for vehicle lines owned.
- Plant Vehicle Team key contact and supporting the Manufacturing plant for Engineering internal customer issues reported from First Time Thorough, Divert Free Vehicles and WCPA.
- Reducing functional faults on vehicle lines from external customer issues reported on 0 & 3 MIS Warranty & RSA, by problem solving support and leading X-functional project Teams.
- Change Management support.
- Monitoring PH1 PSW and working with PVT/PD Engineers to ensure we are compliant and co-ordinating engineering running change implementation.
- Co-ordinating and validating Cost & Fact Sheet with X-functional plant Teams resulting from a Solihull Stop Ship, for review at the Customer Satisfaction Review Group.
- Agile Product Owner for squads within the PVT Central Teams.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and supplier quality operations and processes.
- Comprehensive problem solving knowledge - Lean Six Sigma Black Belt qualified.
- Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience in an engineering function.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to build and manage multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrable business acumen and operational budget control.
- Well organised, methodical, and the ability to adapt in a fast moving, exciting and evolving environment.
- Ability to communicate with individuals from both technical and non-technical backgrounds and present content in a meaningful, clear and concise way at senior meetings.
- Strong understanding of the importance of safety.
- Be able to apply common processes, standards and utilise a back-to-basics approach.
- Must be able to form good working relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong understanding of people and emotional intelligence is a plus.
- Creates a climate in which respect, trust and mutual support are an integral part of working together.
- Ability to multi-task in pressurised situations.
- Experienced with Agile Frameworks, SCRUM, Kanban, SAFE and Agile planning tools such as Jira.
