About Fussy
Hey good smelling! We’re Fussy…about everything in our mission to banish single‑use plastic from your bathroom. Having experienced exceptional growth over the past four years, we are now looking for a talented individual to join the team as a Financial Controller. You’ll report to Mary, our Finance Director, and work together to develop and consistently deliver a robust financial reporting cycle, supported by scalable and efficient finance processes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a scale‑up through a significant period of growth. You’ll be a trusted partner to the leadership team and a champion for our bottom line!
About the role
- Financial reporting - you’ll own our monthly management and annual statutory reporting processes end to end, including leading our external audit.
- Finance transformation - you’ll champion process improvements and automation opportunities across all business areas to improve the speed and accuracy of our financial reporting process and drive alignment with other sources of performance data.
- Financial Operations - you’ll stand over our order to cash (AR) and procure to pay (AP) processes and teams, including payment runs and debt collection, as well as our monthly payroll process.
- Tax and compliance - you’ll oversee all recurring tax filings including VAT returns, payroll and Corporation tax and work with external advisors to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Business partnering - you’ll be a trusted partner to senior leaders, helping stakeholders understand and own their budgets, providing clear visibility on spend and delivering ad‑hoc analysis to support decision making.
- Team management - you’ll manage an existing team of 2 and will have the opportunity to build the team further over time.
About you
Great comes in lots of different forms, and we’re really open to seeing candidates from a range of backgrounds. Given the nature of this role and what we’ll ask of you, we do believe that the following skills are needed to be able to deliver to a high standard:
- Qualified Accountant with experience in a business with Physical Stock.
- Strong experience across all the key elements of the role – from reporting to financial operations to tax and everything in between.
- Highly organised, with exceptional attention to detail – you are Fussy about your numbers.
- You are able to prioritise and manage multiple work‑streams. You thrive on the juggle.
- Passionate about automation and process improvement – you spot opportunities and you take initiative to make them happen (and you’ve got some good examples of doing this).
- Curious and collaborative, you build great relationships, take people on the journey and become a great sounding board to your stakeholders.
And anyone who has these skills too would likely be a super fit for this role, but these are by no means essential:
- Experience in a business trading internationally would be advantageous.
