The Role

As our London team continues to grow, we are looking for an organised, proactive and collaborative Underwriting Assistant.

Y ou will play a key role in supporting our Underwriting team and help deliver an exceptional experience for our brokers and clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career within warranty and indemnity specialty insurance; the role provides unique exposure to mergers and acquisitions activity across a broad range of sectors and jurisdictions.

Working closely with experienced underwriters and market-leading brokers, the successful candidate will gain valuable insight into transactional risk insurance and develop a deep understanding of corporate transactions, due diligence processes and specialty underwriting

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, respond and execute to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), liaising with brokers to ensure efficient turnaround times.
  • Manage the underwriting group inbox, ensuring new submissions are reviewed, allocated and responded to promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, providing a professional and responsive point of contact throughout the underwriting process.
  • Prepare first draft underwriting documentation, policy documentation and related correspondence for review by the underwriting team.
  • Assist underwriters in reviewing transaction documentation, including sale and purchase agreements, due diligence reports and disclosure materials.
  • Support the underwriting process by coordinating information requests and monitoring transaction timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Participate in broker meetings, calls and business development activities where appropriate.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of submissions and prepare transaction summaries for underwriting consideration.
  • Maintain accurate records across internal underwriting systems and ensure documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless underwriting process.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and operational initiatives as the business continues to grow.

About You

We're looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and enjoys working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

You will ideally have

  • Previous experience within law, insurance, financial services or a professional services environment (underwriting support experience would be advantageous but not necessary).
  • An interest in mergers & acquisitions, corporate transactions and specialty insurance
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and a willingness to take ownership of tasks, whilst being comfortable working to tight deadlines in a transactional environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confidence building relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • A collaborative mindset with a desire to learn and develop within a growing business.
