Technical Buyer Location: Kirkbymoorside Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Are you an experienced Technical Buyer with a background in engineering or manufacturing? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturer looking to strengthen its procurement team with a proactive and commercially minded professional. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business where you'll play a key role in sourcing technically complex materials, components, and subcontract services, ensuring production requirements are met while delivering value, quality, and supplier performance. The Role As Technical Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process from enquiry through to delivery, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely supply of materials and services. Key Responsibilities * Source and purchase technical materials, engineered components and subcontract services. * Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, lead times and commercial terms. * Monitor and improve supplier performance, focusing on quality, delivery and continuous improvement. * Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure purchased parts meet requirements. * Manage purchase orders from quotation through to delivery, including expediting urgent requirements. * Analyse market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities. * Produce regular reports on procurement savings and expenditure. * Maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP/MRP system. * Resolve supplier invoice queries promptly to support efficient payment processes. * Provide general administrative support within the purchasing function. About You To be successful in this role, you'll have: * Previous experience in a Technical Buyer or Procurement role within a manufacturing or engineering environment. * Experience using ERP/MRP systems. * A good understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications (mechanical, electrical and/or hydraulic). * Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. * Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. * Good analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail. * The ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Desirable * CIPS qualification (or working towards). * Engineering qualification or technical background
