We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our client's manufacturing team near Hull. The Composite Machinist is responsible for the accurate machining, trimming, finishing, and inspection of composite components used in underwater sonar products and associated assemblies. The role combines hands-on machining skills with an understanding of composite materials, tolerances, and quality standards required. Full UK License and own transport is essential due to location of site.

Duties:

  • Machine, trim, drill, and finish composite piezo components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines (e.g. CNC routers, mills, lathes) for composite materials.
  • Use hand tools and specialist composite tooling for trimming, bonding preparation and finishing.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD data, work instructions.
  • Carry out dimensional inspection using appropriate measuring equipment (callipers, micrometres, gauges).

Requirements:

  • Proven experience machining composite materials in a production or prototype environment.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances and high quality standards.
  • Confident in using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Own transport is essential due to location of site.
  • Apprenticeship or vocational qualification in machining, manufacturing, composites, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Experience using dicing and surface grinding machines (preferred).
