We are recruiting an Associate, Financial Modeler for a Central London based private credit fund. You will need to be an excellent financial modeler with a high degree of business acumen, able to demonstrate a real commercial outlook when analysing deals. You will be joining a small, high performing team in a fund with a diverse deal flow; no two deals are the same. You will be given exposure across multiple asset classes and have responsibility for shaping lending recommendations in an entrepreneurial environment without institutional bureaucracy.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyse borrower financials and loan tapes (often large, unstructured, and imperfect), from which you will build bespoke Excel models from scratch to assess risk, identify inconsistencies and challenge borrower supplied assumptions.
- Model SME cashflow and assess covenant headroom, constructing default curves, vintage analysis and roll-rate matrices.
- Assessing platform underwriting methodologies where borrowers are onward lending.
- Assessing probability of default using quantitative and qualitative factors.
- Translating analysis into clear credit recommendations.
We are looking for someone with 2-5 years’ experience in private credit, structured finance, asset backed lending, loan portfolio analysis or structured products (experience across multiple credit types is highly attractive).
Your experience must include the ability to:
- Build complex financial models from scratch.
- Handle large loan level data sets.
- Construct vintage, cumulative default and roll-rate analysis.
- Design multi-scenario stress cases.
You will be entrepreneurial rather than institutional. Enjoy building rather than operating, be intellectually curious about risk and be comfortable making decisions with imperfect data. Independent thinking is essential as this is not an institutional process-driven environment. It requires judgement, intellectual honesty, and ownership.
Base salary £60,000 to £80,000 (dependent upon experience).
