Job Title: Machinist
Location: Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire
Duration: Ongoing Contract or permanent
Hours: 7am – 4pm Monday to Thursday, 7am – 1pm Friday
Own transport recommended due to location
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Machinist for an ongoing contract based in Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire.
Relevant experience
- Machine shop covering engine component overhaul / refurbishment
- Tool room machinist
- Machine shop: one-off low-volume machining and qualification of used components
Typical duties
- Milling on Rottler machines, refurbishing old parts (not production)
- Operate in a tool shop/tool room environment with experience inspecting using measuring tools (verniers, calipers, micrometers)
- Use CNC controls
- Machine blocks and casings for Voith and NT blocks
- Use Rottler and milling machines
- Rebore engine blocks and internal bushes of connecting rods
- Rebore and sleeve Voith transmission casings
- Requalify diesel engine connecting rods (conrods)
- Regrind crankshaft main and big-end bearing journals for 6-cylinder diesel engines
- Polish crankshaft main and big-end bearing journals for 6-cylinder diesel engines
- Regrind crankshaft flywheel flange
- Dressing and balancing of grinding wheels
- Basic TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
- Programme Rockler Milling Machine where required
- Metrology: use verniers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment
- Perform inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products
- Analyse information and determine best solutions to problems
- Maintain clear and honest communication at all times
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Learn and apply latest relevant knowledge to the work
- Mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable
- Support all relevant 5S activities
- Report near misses
- Ensure waste is disposed of correctly
