My client, a leading multinational is looking for an IT Enterprise Data Governance Manager to play a critical role in driving the data strategy to build a modern, outcome-driven data governance capability that strengthens the firm's resilience and unlocks business value. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the data governance framework, policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, quality and security of the organisation’s data assets. This senior manager works closely with other departments across the organisation to establish data governance standards and practices that support the strategic goals of the organisation. The role holder is a highly skilled technical expert within their chosen specialism. This role plays a key part in driving innovation, ensuring scalability and developing best practices within the company’s technical infrastructure.

Accountabilities:

  • Defining and maintaining the data governance frameworks, policies and procedures that detail how data is to be governed and how the effectiveness of data governance will be measured.
  • Lead Data Governance Agenda and put in place Data Stewardship.
  • Drive across the organisation the opportunities that data can create and the opportunities data can unlock to help support the organisation's goals.
  • Understand the implications of Data Governance with AI.
  • Experience of bringing stakeholders within the organisation on the digital journey.
  • Defining and maintaining the data catalogue and data management process templates that the Data Owners and Data Stewards will be responsible for completing.
  • Establish enterprise taxonomy, glossary and lineage in Microsoft Purview; ensure certified definitions are adopted in reporting and AI.
  • Deliver an Information Asset Register and put in place processes to govern registered assets and critical data elements.
  • Leading data governance initiatives and supporting data cleansing initiatives to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Educating stakeholders on the importance of data governance and promoting a culture of data literacy.
  • Leading cross-functional, large-scale technical projects within Data & Analytics working with relevant stakeholders to align technical deliverables with company objectives and IT priorities.

Skills and Experience (Manager):

  • Data governance roles at managerial level with extensive knowledge of designing and operationalising data governance frameworks, policies, procedures and data management processes.
  • Strong experience of Collibra or Purview (glossary, lineage, sensitivity labels, label encryption).
  • Experience of putting in place data stewardship.
  • Strong experience of Master Data Management (Profisee or Informatica).
  • Beneficial: Experience in risk assessment and AI risk assessment and AI ethics including AI governance execution and experience with Copilot and M365 ACL.
  • Ability to create and maintain data catalogues that help users find and understand data.
  • Developing and implementing data governance frameworks and defining and implementing data standards.
