We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Grounds Maintenance Operative to join HMP Full Sutton in York. This role is based on-site and remote, so a driving licence or access to a car is essential. There may be a need to work some weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
You will be responsible for:
- General maintenance, such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, clearing leaves and litter, verges, weed spraying, tree care, and horticulture activities such as planting, pruning, and seeding.
- Erecting and dismantling equipment, operating light plant and power tools, and undertaking cutting equipment checks.
- Setting out and making sports pitches including grass and tarmac, with upkeep of artificial and synthetic pitches in recreational areas.
- Painting sundry equipment.
- General good housekeeping, including litter picking around the grounds if required.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- A full driving licence.
- Knowledge and experience of gardening, horticulture operations, and grounds maintenance type duties.
- A weed spraying certificate.
- Experience in operating light plant and equipment and wheeled tractors.
- An understanding of Health and Safety Legislation.
- Chainsaw Wind Blown Trees (CS 34), CS30/CS31 Chainsaw maintenance and Cross Cut.
- Ideally, you will be qualified in the use of grounds maintenance machinery with experience in their use and knowledge of safety measures required.
