A Quantity Surveyor is required to join a medium sized Civils Contractor on a permanent basis in Frome. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be required to manage costs and ensure the financial success of their surfacing, highways, and other civils projects, ensuring cost control, value engineering, and contract compliance.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing, managing, and monitoring project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reports.
- Conducting detailed cost analysis, value engineering, and risk assessments.
- Administering NEC and JCT forms of contract, ensuring compliance and managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Procuring subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage commercial relationships.
- Measuring and valuing completed work.
- Processing payments and resolving any commercial disputes.
- Working closely with the site teams to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Liaising with stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Assisting in tender preparation.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent), have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor working on highways, surfacing, or civil engineering within a contractor environment, have knowledge on NEC and JCT forms of contracts, be proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office, and have a full UK driving license. You will also have excellent skills in commercial awareness, negotiation, communication, teamworking, attention to detail and be able to work under pressure.
