A Principal Highways Engineer is required to join a design consultancy in the north. You will be responsible for leading on work and projects within the highways civil engineering team, delivering infrastructure projects efficiently, cost effectively and to client standards and requirements, whilst providing support on various design and maintenance duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Producing and reviewing design drawings and calculations
- Conducting structural assessments and principal inspections / special inspections
- Feasibility and preparing other technical reports and documents
- Developing and presenting engineering options and solutions
- Checking design concepts, details, drawings, specifications, contract documents and other technical documents
- Managing and mentoring other members of the team
- Driving effective health and safety practices within the team, and completing risk assessments in coordination with the project CDM requirements
- Liaise with all relevant stakeholders, attending meetings, and conducting presentations of reports and progress for discussion
- Working as part of the multi discipline team, interacting with other design disciplines
- Preparing technical specifications and develop Bills of Quantities
- Attend site visits or client meetings, carry out inspections and surveys as/when required so you must have the ability to travel to site around North Yorkshire when required
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent appropriate discipline
- Significant experience in highway design and construction
- Experience in major infrastructure or resource projects within consultancies
- Knowledge in preparing detailed designs and specifications using PDS and/or Civils 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage etc
- Able to build relationships and influence, develop and motivate both internally and externally
- Understanding other building and engineering related disciplines OR requirements of these in the effective design, co ordination and delivery of projects
- Understanding and experience of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- A full UK driving licence
- Ideal candidates will be working towards becoming a chartered or incorporated engineer, but this is not required
