We are currently recruiting experienced Assembly Fitters for a 6-month temp to perm position in Loughborough. Work involves collaborating with a team of Erectors to produce Transformer Internal Assemblies according to Engineering specifications.
Key responsibilities:
- Building core & coils for 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV power transformers within the Transformer Assembly section.
- Transposing taps on power transformer coil windings for 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV.
- Preparing, crimping, connecting, and routing cables adhering to critical clearance tolerances.
- Conducting pre-tank parallel and ratio checks to electrical specifications.
- Standing/upending, plating up, and oven processing/pressing of coil windings.
- Moving materials and parts between areas, including oven processes.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Working at Heights, operating overhead cranes, and MEWPs.
- Performing various duties as required by the company, as the job description is not exhaustive.
Shift details:
- Mornings: Week 1 07:00-16:00 Mon-Thu, 07:00-13:00 Fri (40 hrs); Week 2 07:00-16:00 Mon-Thu (34 hrs)
- Afternoons: Week 1 16:00-01:00 Mon-Thu, 12:00-18:00 Fri (40 hrs); Week 2 16:00-01:00 Mon-Thu (34 hrs)
- Nights: 2 weeks 21:15-07:00 Mon-Thu (37 hrs)
The first 6 weeks will be on day shift for training purposes.
Pay rates:
- During training: £17.17 (PAYE) or £22.58 (Umbrella)
- All shifts: £20.94 (PAYE) or £27.68 (Umbrella)
Qualifications:
- Engineering-related apprenticeship preferred.
- Overhead crane, slinging & lifting qualifications.
- MEWP 3A & 3B preferred.
- Forklift truck experience advantageous.
- Experience working at height.
Skills:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team player with a flexible approach to shift work, including nights.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of quality and inspection standards.
- Problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to contribute positively.
Experience:
- Mechanical fitting experience advantageous.
