Location: Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire
Duration: Ongoing contract or permanent
Hours: 7am - 4pm Mon to Thurs, 7am - 1pm Fri. Own transport recommended due to location.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Machine blocks and casings for Voith and NT blocks.
- Use Rottler and Milling Machine.
- Rebore engine block and internal bushes of Conrods.
- Rebore and sleeve Voith Transmission casings.
- Requalify Diesel engine connecting rods (conrods).
- Regrind and polish 6‑cyl diesel engine crank shaft main and big end bearing journals.
- Regrind crank shaft fly wheel flange.
- Dressing and balancing of grinding wheels.
- Basic TPM (Total Product Maintenance).
- Program Rockler Milling Machine.
- Use metrology equipment: verniers, calipers and micrometers.
- Perform inspections of equipment, structures, materials and products.
- Analyse information and find the best solutions to problems.
- Maintain clear and honest communication at all times.
- Keep the work environment safe.
- Learn and apply the latest relevant knowledge to the work.
- Mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable.
- Support all relevant 5S activities.
- Report any near misses.
- Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
Background & Experience
- Relevant experience required.
- Practical mechanically oriented.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- Recognised engineering qualification required.
- Self‑motivated.
- Machine shop covering engine component overhaul/refurbishment.
- Tool room machinist with experience inspecting used measuring tools such as verniers, calipers and micrometers.
- Must be able to use CNC Controls.
- Experience working from a “tool shop / tool room” environment.
- Background in refurbishing old parts and not production on Rottler machines.
