Mechanical Project Engineer Location: Bristol / Hinkley Point C Site, Somerset Salary: Up to £70,000 Clearance Required: BPSS Working Pattern: 5-day week / 9-day fortnight We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to help deliver one of the UK\’s most important infrastructure projects – Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station in a generation and a cornerstone of the UK\’s Net Zero strategy. The Opportunity As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of complex mechanical work packages safely, on time and on budget. This role involves developing plans, monitoring schedules, managing resources, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance. You will work closely with senior managers, site teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success. Key Responsibilities for the Mechanical Project Engineer Support delivery of contract and package activities to meet time, cost, quality, and safety targets. Assist in developing and implementing strategies aligned with programme execution plans. Monitor schedules, procurement timelines, budgets, and milestones, reporting progress clearly. Liaise with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and advisors to maintain strong working relationships. Supervise engineering resources, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project performance. Review designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with required standards. Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and health and safety records. Identify risks, resolve issues proactively, and ensure lessons learned are captured. About You – Mechanical Project Engineer Profile Qualifications: ONC or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (degree preferred). Professional Development: Working towards APM PMQ or equivalent Project Management qualification. Experience: Proven experience delivering engineering or construction projects in complex environments. Exposure to nuclear or other regulated industries is desirable. Background in mechanical systems (piped systems, HVAC, drainage, heating & cooling). Knowledge of nuclear safety culture, quality standards, and safety-critical systems.
