Duration: Ongoing Contract or Permanent
Hours: 7am - 4pm Mon to Thurs, 7am - 1pm Fri. Own transport recommended due to location.
We are currently recruiting for experienced Machinists for an ongoing contract based in Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire.
Relevant experience required:
- Machine shop covering engine component overhaul/refurbishment
- Tool room machinist
- Machine shop: one-off low volume machining and qualifications of used components
- Milling on Rottler machines, which involves refurbishing old parts and not production
- Candidates must have a background working from a tool shop/tool room environment and must have experience inspecting used measuring tools such as verniers, calipers, and micrometers
- Must be able to use CNC Controls
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Machine blocks and casings for Voith and NT blocks
- Be able to use Rottler and Milling Machine
- Be able to rebore out engine block and the internal bushes of Conrods
- Have the capability to rebore and sleeve Voith Transmission casings
- Requalify Diesel engine connecting rods (conrods)
- Regrind 6-cylinder Diesel engine crankshaft main and big end bearing journals
- Polish 6-cylinder Diesel engine crankshaft main and big end bearing journals
- Regrind 6-cylinder Diesel engine crankshaft flywheel flange
- Dressing and balancing of grinding wheels
- Basic TPM (Total Product Maintenance)
- Have the capability to programme Rockler Milling Machine
- Be able to use metrology equipment, verniers, calipers, and micrometers
- Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products
- Analyse information and find the best solutions to problems
- Maintain clear and honest communication at all times
- Keeping the work environment safe
- Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work
- Mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable
- Work to and support all relevant 5S activities
- Report any near misses
- Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner
Background & Experience:
- Relevant experience required
- Be practical and mechanically oriented
- Possess good problem-solving skills
- Recognised engineering qualification required
- Self-motivated
