Overview
Fit Out Operative/Engineer – South Kirkby
Salary: £20.00 per hour (first 40 hours) / £30.00 per hour (overtime) or £18.69/£25.46ph PAYE. Location: South Kirkby. Full-time, ongoing site-based role.
Responsibilities
- Install mechanical components including pipework, brackets, supports, and ducting
- Operate plant equipment (FLT, scissor lift, cherry picker) to transport, position, and install materials at height or in confined spaces
- Interpret mechanical drawings and layout plans to ensure accurate installation
- Assist with assembly and alignment of mechanical systems and equipment
- Use hand and power tools to complete mechanical tasks safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with site safety standards
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including safe use of lifting equipment and working at height
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in mechanical installation or utilities work
- Competent in operating FLT, scissor lift, and cherry picker (valid licenses/certifications required)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents
- Strong understanding of manual handling and safe lifting practices
- Comfortable working at height and in physically demanding environments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Qualifications
- Valid FLT license (preferred)
- IPAF certification for scissor lift and cherry picker (preferred)
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
Working Conditions
Full-time, site-based role with consistent hours. First 40 hours paid at £20.00 per hour. Overtime paid at £30.00 per hour after 40 hours. May involve occasional overtime during peak installation phases. Indoor and outdoor work depending on project scope.
