FUSION HOUSING works across the Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield districts of West Yorkshire, providing help for our communities to find and maintain housing through legal advice, employment support, learning opportunities, supported accommodation and local food bank provision

Post: Marketing & Communications Assistant (Volunteer)

Hours: Part-time – up to 15hrs per week with flexibility

Duration: Ongoing volunteer opportunity

Location: Huddersfield office (Pearl House, 10 John William Street, Huddersfield, HD1 1BA)

Expenses: Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with Fusion Housing policy

Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Volunteer Marketing & Communications Assistant to support our marketing and communications activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in marketing, communications, social media and content creation while making a meaningful contribution to a local charity.

As part of our team, you will help raise awareness of Fusion Housing's services, achievements, fundraising activities and community impact.

The role includes:

• Creating engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and X.

• Assisting with the planning and scheduling of social media posts.

• Drafting news stories, website content, blog posts and volunteer or service-user success stories.

• Supporting the design and production of promotional materials, such as posters, flyers and newsletters.

• Helping to maintain and update website content.

• Taking photographs at events and activities (where appropriate and consent has been obtained).

• Assisting with internal communications and staff engagement initiatives.

• Monitoring social media activity and helping compile basic engagement statistics.

• Supporting campaigns, events and awareness-raising activities.

• Helping to ensure communications reflect Fusion Housing's values and brand guidelines.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, creative and keen to support our marketing and communications activities. You don’t necessarily need previous experience in a marketing role, but an interest in marketing, communications, public relations or digital media would be beneficial.

Ideally, you will have:

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• An interest in marketing, communications, public relations or digital media.
• Confidence using a range of social media platforms.
• Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• A creative approach with good attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently, use your initiative and contribute as part of a team.
• A positive, reliable and professional approach.
• An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection.

We’re particularly looking for someone who is keen to learn and develop their skills, so you don’t need to be an expert in everything. Support and guidance will be provided as you develop within the volunteer role.

Further Information

• This role is primarily office-based at Fusion Housing's Head Office in Huddersfield.
• Some flexibility around working days and times can be agreed.
• Induction, training and ongoing support will be provided.
• Volunteers will be required to follow Fusion Housing policies and procedures, including safeguarding, confidentiality, equality and diversity, and health and safety requirements.
