General Description: An exciting opportunity to join us on our continued journey of growth. We are looking to again expand our Student Living team, and are now seeking a Business Development Manager to work across London and the South East. Utilising your existing knowledge and experience of selling into the Student Accommodation market, you will go out and develop your region, identifying new prospective customers from across the student market – namely; universities, PBSA’s, Main Contractors, and Student HMO’s. The successful candidate will predominantly be working remotely, based around London, or South East, with occasional trips to our Manchester offices. You’ll work closely with the Commercial Director to grow both sales and our presence across the Student Accommodation sector. You’ll stay close to the market and the sectors we work in, sharing insight and experiences with the wider team. For the right candidate, this role offers you the autonomy to grow a successful business. You will need to be a self-starter, with a focus on delivering results, and this will come from having both an initial ‘hunter’ business development mentality, as well as having excellent account management skills. You’ll need outstanding verbal and written communication skills, be able to find innovative solutions to problems without relying on others, and also thrive on making contact with people who don’t know, or haven’t used Fusion Furniture before.
Principal Tasks:
- Developing an ambitious business plan and strategy, ensuring your sales targets are exceeded
- Developing and using creative and innovative sales generation strategies and approaches to get results
- Identifying and proactively contacting prospective customers and converting them into profitable customers
- Managing all client communication, from initial lead through to contract completion
- Managing your pipeline and creating accurate sales forecasting, to achieve month-on-month and year-on-year growth
- Work with support functions within the business to improve service delivery and resolve any customer experience issues
- Attending meetings, visiting sites, attending conferences and events to promote Fusion Furniture’s services
- Working with your line manager to identify tenders and mini-competitions - carrying out site surveys if required
Requirements:
- Proven successful experience in business development, with a minimum of 2 years of specific PBSA/HE sector experience
- Proven success in prospecting, building a pipeline, and moving opportunities through to completion
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills and ability to communicate and work at all levels
- Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and able to manage own workload
- Dynamic and energetic, with a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Team player and a well-presented individual
- A furniture background is beneficial, but not essential
- A full driving licence is essential and you must be prepared to travel frequently, with occasional overnight stays.
