IT Compliance Analyst

Role Overview

UKAEA’s IT Service Management Group, part of the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions Unit, seeks an IT Compliance Analyst to provide expert oversight and assurance of software licensing and IT compliance across a complex hybrid IT environment.

The role ensures a robust, auditable, and cost‑effective compliance position by defining and improving controls, managing risks, and supporting effective service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve IT compliance controls ensuring accurate, auditable hardware and software licensing across EIS.
  • Provide expert guidance on compliance risks, audits, governance, and remediation activities.
  • Use ITSM and asset management tools to monitor licence usage, improve data quality, and provide compliance insights.
  • Support licence management recording, renewals, cost optimisation and compliance throughout the technology lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with IT, cyber security, procurement, finance and suppliers to strengthen compliance practices across UKAEA.
  • Where possible, integrate automated licence retrieval, recording and re‑use.

Requirements

  • HND or higher in IT, STEM or equivalent professional experience.
  • Substantial experience in software compliance, licensing management or IT audit within complex IT environments.
  • Strong understanding of licence models including subscription, enterprise, perpetual, concurrent and Saa S‑based licensing.
  • Experience leading or coordinating audit and assurance activities.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgement in ambiguous compliance scenarios.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influence skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL‑aligned ITSM/ITOM environments.

Desirable

  • ITIL v4/v5 Foundation or higher.
  • Project or delivery framework qualifications (e. g. PRINCE2®, PMP).
  • Compliance or licensing certifications (e. g. CSAM, CAMP, ISO27001 auditor).
  • Experience in regulated, government, scientific or energy environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft hybrid platforms and compliance tooling.

Role is subject to UK Security Vetting (UKSV).

Applicants must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years and will undergo Disclosure & Barring Service checks, and potentially open‑source data searches.

The position is onsite at Culham, with regular onsite presence (3‑5 days per week).

Flexible working arrangements are supported where compatible with the role.
