We're excited to be recruiting for a Talent Acquisition and Relations Manager to join the Fusion team. This is a fantastic time to join a leading full-service agency with over 35 years of marketing and automotive events experience. Fusion is a family business with a family ethos. We recruit as much for fit as we do for experience. The offices are bright and contemporary – just 50 minutes from central London. We offer attractive company benefits, including up to 33 days' holiday, private healthcare, and a discounted car scheme. This is a hybrid position, working full-time, Monday to Friday, combining a minimum of 3 days in the office in Bedfordshire and 2 days working from home, if preferred.

About the Role

The Talent Acquisition and Relations Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of freelance and contractor talent within Fusion, including Brand Ambassadors, Crew, Technicians, Riggers, External Event Production Staff and other specialist event personnel. The role focuses on attracting, onboarding, retaining and managing a reliable pool of high-quality freelance professionals to support operational delivery across live events and projects. This position plays a key role in maintaining strong freelancer relationships, ensuring compliance and process consistency, overseeing talent management systems, and supporting workforce planning to meet business demands.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Talent Attraction
    • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for freelance and contractor event personnel.
    • Create and manage recruitment advertising across relevant platforms, job boards and industry networks.
    • Build and maintain a proactive pipeline of qualified freelance talent.
    • Source candidates through networking, referrals, databases and industry engagement.
    • Ensure recruitment activity aligns with operational staffing requirements and project timelines.
    • Recruit a diverse, representative freelance pool that reflects the audiences our clients want to engage.
  • Selection & Onboarding
    • Screen, interview and assess freelancers and contractors for suitability, experience and compliance.
    • Coordinate onboarding processes, including certifications, inductions and system setup.
    • Ensure all freelancers receive clear onboarding information, including policies, procedures and expectations.
    • Maintain and update standard onboarding documentation.
  • Retention & Relationship Management
    • Maintain a minimum active pool of available and qualified contractors to support business continuity.
    • Develop strategies to improve freelancer engagement and retention.
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships with freelancers across all disciplines.
    • Act as a key point of contact and liaison for freelance workforce matters.
    • Gather and monitor freelancer feedback regarding operational processes, suppliers and overall experience.
    • Support initiatives that improve contractor satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Freelancer Offboarding
    • Manage and coordinate the offboarding process for freelancers and contractors leaving the business or becoming inactive.
    • Ensure all relevant offboarding administration is completed accurately and in line with company procedures.
    • Ensure freelancer data is retained, archived or deleted appropriately in accordance with GDPR and company data retention policies.
  • Talent Software Ownership & Governance
    • Own and manage the company’s talent management and workforce scheduling systems/ contractor portal.
    • Ensure accurate system usage, data integrity and governance standards.
    • Provide user support and training for internal teams and freelancers where required.
    • Monitor compliance and process adherence within talent systems.
  • Department Processes & Administration
    • Develop, maintain and improve departmental recruitment and talent processes.
    • Ensure all standard documentation remains current, accessible and compliant.
    • Support policy communication and implementation across the freelance workforce.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the talent function.
    • Responsibility for ensuring that appropriate DBS checks for freelance staff are conducted and completed where relevant.
  • Conflict Resolution & Workforce Support
    • Manage and support the resolution of freelancer-related issues and conflicts professionally and efficiently.
    • Escalate significant workforce concerns where appropriate.
    • Work collaboratively with Operations and Project teams to support positive workforce engagement and performance.
  • Industry Engagement
    • Attend live events, with a target of at least one event per quarter.
    • Maintain awareness of industry trends, workforce availability and competitor activity.
    • Build industry relationships to strengthen the company’s freelancer network and employer reputation.
  • Freelancer Welfare & Safeguarding
    • Act as the primary point of contact for freelancer welfare, wellbeing and safeguarding matters across the freelance workforce.
    • Promote safe working practices and support freelancer welfare before, during and after live events and operational deployments.
  • Team Management
    • Line management of any direct reports, including one to ones, appraisals and personal development plans.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in Talent Acquisition, Recruitment or Workforce Coordination within the events, live production or hospitality industries.
  • Experience managing freelance or contractor workforces.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills. Personable – able to build a rapport with ease.
  • Experience using workforce management or recruitment systems or similar platforms.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • A confident, efficient, enthusiastic, and highly organised individual with a flexible working nature, excellent multi-tasking skills, can-do attitude and the ability to prioritise.
  • Proficient with social media platforms/ Teams / technically adept and highly efficient use of Microsoft packages (including PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Punctual, resourceful, self-starting, and excellent use of initiative.
  • Honest, reliable, and able to work with discretion and an understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident handling conflict resolution and sensitive workforce matters.
  • Excellent diplomacy skills – able to diffuse situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and process management capabilities.
  • Ability to spot opportunities to improve processes, have the conviction to voice these improvements and the determination to see through the changes.
  • An understanding of GDPR regulations.
  • Passionate and dedicated to building a great business.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with less than 6 penalty points.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of live events, production, rigging or technical staffing environments.
  • Experience developing recruitment processes and workforce policies.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements for freelance and temporary workers.
  • Experience attending and supporting live event operations.
