Fusebox Games are looking for a passionate and talented Senior Writer to join our Narrative team, working on both existing and new original games and interactive stories. This role will focus on our brand-new IP, The Traitors game, released this year.
This is a leadership role within the Narrative team, where you will not only contribute creatively but also help support, guide, and develop a small team of writers/story associates. We are open to candidates who already have people management experience, as well as experienced senior writers who are ready to take the next step into management and leadership.
This is a remote role; however, you must be based in the UK to apply.
As a Senior Writer, you will play a key role in shaping narrative content, supporting creative direction, and helping drive quality across the writing team. You’ll work closely with Project Lead Writers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality interactive storytelling experiences full of drama, tension, emotional stakes, and memorable characters.
Alongside your writing responsibilities, you will support the development of junior team members through feedback, mentorship, coaching, and collaborative leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Support, mentor, and help develop a small team of writers and/or story associates through feedback, coaching, and collaboration
- Act as a creative leader, helping maintain high narrative standards and team direction
- Develop concepts and stories for both original and IP interactive content
- Work closely with our Project Lead Writer and wider Writing team to invent worlds, stories, and characters
- Ensure all written material and produced content meets Fusebox Studio’s Interactive Fiction Narrative Best Practices
- Attend and help lead writers’ rooms and creative workshops
- Pitch story arcs for various original and IP properties
- Help manage and maintain positive relationships with IP holders
- Plot and structure episodes and scripts (including dynamic and premium choices) with high levels of autonomy
- Review and edit scripts and outlines with high attention to detail
- Oversee volumes of scripts to ensure all content meets quality standards
- Actively contribute to feedback, reviews, and idea generation sessions
- Proactively raise and address quality or narrative performance issues
- Write compelling dialogue for an ensemble cast of characters
- Draft and revise outlines and scripts to deadline, providing clear and constructive feedback
- Lead meetings with other departments to ensure projects stay on track
- Rewrite scripts to tight deadlines to ensure they meet or exceed quality expectations
- Playtest story chapters and provide feedback and iteration
- Collaborate closely with writers, artists, designers, and wider teams across Fusebox
- Take on project leadership responsibilities alongside other senior team members
Requirements:
- Previous experience managing people, mentoring creatives, or acting as a senior individual contributor ready to step into leadership
- Extensive writing experience on mobile games or within the games industry
- Strong understanding of choice structure and interactive fiction best practices
- Enthusiasm for collaboration and for giving and receiving feedback
- Ability to be creative, flexible, and solution-focused in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- A desire to be both a creative leader and a team player
- Knowledge of Love Island: The Game and other Fusebox titles
- Passion for storytelling and interactive fiction
- Excellent ear for dialogue and strong understanding of tone and pacing
- A drive to deliver high-quality work and contribute beyond your core role
