About Lorum Global payments are not broken. Incentives are. Clearing has been deprioritized inside balance sheet driven institutions whose models rely on lending and interest. When liquidity takes priority over settlement, payments slow and certainty drops. The same financial institutions that distort clearing as providers are disadvantaged as users. They are forced into fragmented setups, inconsistent rails, duplicated compliance, and unpredictable timelines. Stablecoin shortcuts and treasury pooling treat symptoms at the surface, but almost no one is rebuilding the underlying infrastructure in each market.
We are rebuilding clearing as its own specialist function. We act as a clearing and transaction banking partner for regulated institutions, with treasury built into the core so liquidity, settlement, and reconciliation sit in one controlled system. Our platform unifies global and local licenses, direct central bank clearing, and access to domestic rails. We allow clients to open named customer accounts in every market we operate, collecting funds and paying out through a single network while retaining full ownership of their customer relationships. Market expansion becomes as simple as one correspondent relationship, not hundreds.
Why Lorum: Joining Lorum means contributing to one of the most ambitious clearing infrastructure projects in global finance. You will help shape settlement systems that perform under real regulatory standards and institutional volumes. You will build for regulated institutions that rely on precision, predictable timelines, and regulatory integrity. It is about working across currencies, markets, and supervisory frameworks to deliver reliable, final settlement.
Role purpose: We're hiring a People Operations Partner to support the day-to‑day running of Lorum's people function in the UK and EU. You'll sit at the heart of our people operations, managing employee lifecycles, right to work compliance, onboarding, HR systems, offices, payroll and general people administration. This is a hands‑on, detail‑oriented role that keeps the business running smoothly behind the scenes. You'll work closely with our Head of People, ensuring every employee experience regardless of location is seamless, compliant, and well‑supported. This role will primarily focus on supporting our UK & EU offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Right to Work & Employee Administration: Own Right to Work administration in line with UK Home Office requirements, tracking visa expiry dates and ensuring ongoing compliance with UK employment eligibility obligations. Manage relationships with Employer of Record (EOR) providers across EU jurisdictions where Lorum operates without a legal entity. Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and documentation in line with UK employment law and GDPR requirements. Monitor and report on work authorisation status, benefits enrolment, and document renewal deadlines across the UK and EU.
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Support all aspects of onboarding: right to work verification, equipment setup, HRIS input, and first‑week logistics. Manage orientation schedules and onboarding materials tailored to UK and EU locations. Oversee offboarding workflows including asset retrieval, system access revocation, leaver documentation, and statutory obligations (e.g. P45 issuance, final pay, holiday reconciliation).
- Office & Operational Support: Oversee daily office operations and vendor coordination (supplies, facilities, maintenance) for our UK office(s) and any EU hubs. Support company events, team gatherings, and travel logistics as needed. Manage health & safety compliance in line with UK HSE requirements, including maintaining risk assessments, DSE assessments, and office inventory.
- UK & EU Payroll Support: Serve as the lead point of contact for our UK payroll portal, covering payroll processing and submissions, including PAYE and National Insurance, statutory leave management (sick pay, maternity/paternity, shared parental leave), benefits administration and pension enrolment in line with auto‑enrolment obligations. Coordinate with EOR providers and local payroll contacts across EU jurisdictions to ensure accurate and timely payroll runs.
- Global HRIS & Data Management: Maintain and update the HRIS with accurate employee data, ensuring GDPR compliance in all data handling and retention practices. Generate reports, track key people metrics, and support internal and external audits. Ensure employee information is consistent across systems and documentation.
- Global People Support & Coordination: Act as the first point of contact for employee queries and administrative support across UK and EU locations. Help execute company‑wide initiatives including performance reviews, engagement surveys, and policy updates — adapting where necessary for local regulatory requirements. Support the Head of People with ad‑hoc projects and people analytics.
Ideal Candidate Must‑Haves:
- 2–4 years of experience in HR/People Operations, ideally within a fast‑paced or high‑growth environment.
- Solid understanding of UK & EU benefits administration, and HR compliance.
- Hands‑on experience with HRIS platforms.
- Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proactive, reliable, and solutions‑oriented. You see what needs doing and make it happen.
Nice‑to‑Haves:
- Experience in fintech or startups with distributed/global teams.
- Familiarity with onboarding processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Exposure to HR analytics, reporting, or process automation.
Benefits:
- Opportunity to travel (if applicable)
- Flexible vacation policy
- Private Healthcare
- Employee stock ownership (ESOP)
- Flexible working and autonomy
- Pay it forward days – we offer 2 annual pay it forward days where you can take time to volunteer for a charitable cause that is important to you.
