This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of complex projects from concept through to commissioning while mentoring junior engineers and driving technical excellence across the business. Experience delivering projects within the water and wastewater sector will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and implementation of industrial control systems across a range of major projects
- Provide technical leadership across PLC, SCADA and automation system integration projects
- Manage control system design documentation, FAT/SAT activities and commissioning
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients and subcontractors
- Support project delivery from initial scope through to handover
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers within the team
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian standards and safety requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in control systems engineering within industrial or infrastructure environments
- Extensive knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems and industrial communications networks
- Experience with electrical design, automation systems and process control
- Strong understanding of relevant electrical standards and safety systems
- Proven ability to manage projects and coordinate stakeholders effectively
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to water or wastewater treatment projects
- Experience with power distribution, VSDs and motor control systems
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or C/C++
- Experience using AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar design software
- Exposure to modern industrial networking and IIoT technologies
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience within engineering teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering or related discipline
- 8+ years’ experience in control systems engineering within an industrial environment
- Relevant industry certifications highly regarded
