Your Role:

As a Power Trader at Fuse, you will be at the forefront of building our power and gas analytical functions and strategies, revolutionising how we understand and shape the renewable energy market. Your analytical skills will be essential as you develop advanced analytical tools tailored to the UK power and gas markets, contributing to our stack model, balance model, margin-based model, and price analysis tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Trading Team to understand and meet their analytics needs
  • Develop analytical platforms and tools aligned with business requirements
  • Contribute to trading strategy decisions
  • Utilize Python for data processing, analysis, and modeling in power and gas markets
  • Perform time series analysis, including data pre-processing, feature extraction, web scraping, model selection, and evaluation
  • Create visual dashboards and reports using tools like Metabase
  • Develop models for Position Balance, Market stacks, and price forecasting
  • Monitor and evaluate the accuracy of external price forecast models
  • Generate analytics on power and gas fundamentals, such as system margin, spark and dark spread, fuel cost adjustments, and system availability
  • Explore innovative statistical and machine learning techniques to enhance forecasting and support long-term trading strategies
  • Provide analytical support to the UK team

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a power trader or analyst
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Bachelor\’s degree in STEM, Economics, or related fields

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Metabase
  • Knowledge of time series analysis and models
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, familiar with advanced statistical methods such as PCA
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
