DescriptionFuse Energy is an energy startup on a mission to make energy abundant and affordable, fast. We combine first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system. We've raised over $200M from top-tier investors including Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, 20VC, Hummingbird and Collaborative Fund, alongside strategic angels including Nico Rosberg and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify and Uber. We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, using AI across the business, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers. The Electrical Engineering Lead owns all electrical engineering for Fuse's EPC function, from design through testing, commissioning and energisation, across all of our infrastructure projects (Solar PV, BESS, Wind, Gas-Peak and Data Centres). You are the technical authority for HV and MV systems and lead the team that designs, builds, tests and energises them. You also hold one of the NERS authorisations that let Fuse carry out contestable grid connection works as an Independent Connections Provider (ICP), so every system we deliver is safe, compliant and accepted by the DNO.ResponsibilitiesElectrical Leadership, Design to EnergisationLead all electrical engineering for the EPC function, from early design through construction, commissioning and energisationAct as the HV/MV subject matter expert across all infrastructure projects, covering substations, grid connections, transformers, switchgear, protection systems and cable networksSet electrical design standards and make sure they are applied consistently across the portfolioReview and approve electrical designs from internal engineers, design partners and consultantsProvide technical challenge to drive safe, compliant and cost-effective solutionsTeam LeadershipLead, develop and manage Electrical Design Engineers, Electrical Engineers, SAPs and Commissioning EngineersAllocate resource across projects and make sure the right people are on the right stage of deliveryBuild the competence of the team against NERS and DNO requirementsRaise the standard of design, safety and delivery across the functionNERS and ICP ComplianceFulfil your NERS role within Fuse's accreditation, in line with the NERS requirementsMake sure all works stay within Fuse's accredited scopeSupport NERS and DNO audits and close out findingsMaintain the technical records and evidence that accreditation relies onWork with the other NERS role holders so the framework is covered end to endGrid Connection and StandardsLead technical review of grid connection agreements and compliance requirementsEnsure adherence to the UK Grid Code, DNO and TSO requirements, G99/G100 and relevant standardsOversee and validate grid studies: fault level, load flow, protection coordination and harmonic analysisAct as the technical interface with DNOs, TSOs and third-party ICPsConstruction, Testing and CommissioningLead HV and MV installation oversight, testing, commissioning and energisationWitness and sign off key testing: substations, protection systems and grid connection worksLead energisation planning and executionTroubleshoot electrical issues during construction and early operationEnsure as-built systems comply with approved designs and grid requirementsDelivery and StakeholdersRespond to RFIs, TQs and design clarifications, and align design, procurement and constructionSupport handover to Asset ManagementSupport technical due diligence and lender advisor requirementsWork closely with Development, Construction and Asset Management teamsAct as escalation point for complex electrical technical issuesRequirements8 to 10+ years in HV/MV electrical engineering within power, utilities, distribution or renewable energyA current NERS authorisation as Authorising Officer, Technical Advisor or Qualified SupervisorExperience leading and developing engineers, SAPs and commissioning teams· Chartered status (CEng, MIET), an HV Senior Authorised Person background· Exposure to wind, gas-peaking or data centre electrical systems, DNO or IDNO experience.
