Fuse Energy is a forwardâthinking renewable energy startup on a mission to deliver a terawatt of renewable energyâfast. We are combining firstâprinciples thinking with cuttingâedge technology to build a radically better energy system. We raised $170M from topâtier investors including Multicoin, Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, Box Group and strategic angels like Nico Rosberg, the CoâFounder of Solana and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify, Uber and more. We are creating a fully integrated energy company: from developing solar, wind and hydrogen projects to realâtime power trading and distributed energy installations. By selling directly to consumers, we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass on savings to customers.
We are designing and deploying intelligent, gridâconnected energy systems that combine batteries, power electronics and software to enable flexible, lowâcarbon energy infrastructure. Our Battery Management Systems are a core part of this stack, responsible for safety, performance, lifetime and integration of highâvoltage battery assets operating in realâworld grid environments.
As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will take ownership of the design of highâvoltage battery management electronics used across Fuse's energy storage and distributed energy platforms. You will work endâtoâend from early concept and requirements definition through schematic and PCB layout, validation and deployment into production and fielded systems. This is a handsâon role in a fastâmoving environment, requiring strong electrical engineering fundamentals, practical judgement and the ability to balance performance, safety, reliability and cost. You will collaborate closely with firmware, software, mechanical, test and operations teams to deliver robust BMS hardware that scales from prototype to fleet deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, build and test highâvoltage battery management electronics for Fuse Energy's stationary storage and gridâconnected systems.
- Own endâtoâend PCBA development, including requirements definition, schematic capture, PCB layout, design reviews and design for manufacturability.
- Develop automated validation setups and test firmware/software to ensure comprehensive functional, performance and safety coverage of BMS designs.
- Support the transition of designs from prototype to production, including supplier engagement and production test strategy.
- Collaborate with firmware and software engineers to define hardwareâsoftware interfaces, diagnostics and safety mechanisms.
- Work closely with mechanical and systems engineers to ensure electrical designs are optimised for thermal performance, isolation and environmental constraints.
- Perform detailed failure analysis and rootâcause investigations on PCBAs and systems in both lab and field environments.
- Evaluate, select and integrate battery monitoring ICs, microcontrollers, isolation components and communication interfaces suitable for highâvoltage applications.
- Continuously improve designs to optimise reliability, component availability and BOM cost as systems scale.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of handsâon industry experience in analog and digital electronics design.
- Strong fundamentals in circuit analysis, simulation and design tradeâoff evaluation.
- Proven experience designing and debugging complex PCBAs with excellent failure analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Solid proficiency in Python for test automation, validation and data analysis.
- Experience in one or more of the following domains: battery management systems, power electronics, highâvoltage systems, microcontrollers or highâspeed digital interfaces.
- Familiarity with communication interfaces commonly used in BMS and energy systems (e.g. CAN, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).
- Experience with Altium Designer and circuit simulation tools such as LTSpice.
- Exposure to mechanical CAD tools (e.g. Fusion 360, SolidWorks or similar), rapid prototyping and close collaboration with mechanical design.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and an equity signâon bonus.
- Biannual bonus scheme.
- Fully expensed tech to match your needs.
- Paid annual leave.
- Breakfast and dinner allowance for office based employees.
