Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy startup on a mission to deliver a terawatt of renewable energy - fast. We are combining first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system. We raised $170M from top-tier investors including Multicoin, Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, Box Group and strategic angels like Nico Rosberg, the Co-Founder of Solana and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify, Uber and more.

We are creating a fully integrated energy company: from developing solar, wind, and hydrogen projects to real-time power trading and distributed energy installations. By selling directly to customers, we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass on savings to customers. We are also building the Energy Network: a decentralised platform of smart devices that rewards users in Energy Dollars for electrifying their homes, shifting usage to off-peak hours, and helping balance the grid. This network strengthens grid stability - a critical foundation for scaling AI data centres and other energy-intensive industries.

We are now looking for a hands-on and detail-driven Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team onsite in London. You will be working closely with a team of engineers who have joined us from the likes of Tesla and SpaceX, helping to plan, design, and build utility scale renewable energy projects across the world. This role is ideal for someone who can deal well with ambiguity, reason from first-principles and demonstrate engineering rigour. You should be comfortable working with grid tied utility scale power generation facilities and have experience owning technical deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Design HV and LV electrical systems for power, communications, and control
  • Build test setups in the lab for validation of designs
  • Power systems simulations in Digsilent including transient analysis, inrush, and harmonics studies
  • CCTV, SCADA and communications system design and optimization
  • Assist with cost optimization and technoeconomic analyses
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and development of standardized processes and procedures

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience - you’ve built, tested or debugged your own projects
  • Knowledge of three phase power systems and associated components (power transformers, VTs, CTs, switchgear, etc.)
  • Safety-conscious and curious - you like understanding how things work (and how to make them better)

Bonus

  • Prior experience with renewable generation project design
  • Understanding of UK grid regulations (G99, G100, BS standards, etc.)
  • Interest in BESS or renewable energy technologies

Benefits

  • Competitive internship salary
  • Fully expensed tech to match your needs
  • Breakfast and dinner allowance for office based employees
  • Opportunities for fast progression
  • Competitive salary and an equity sign-on bonus
  • Biannual bonus scheme
  • Paid annual leave
