Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy company on a mission to deliver a terawatt of clean energy globally. We are creating a fully integrated energy system: from developing utility-scale solar and wind projects to real-time power trading and distributed energy installations. By selling directly to consumers, we lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.
As our installation business scales, our fleet is central to getting our engineers and equipment where they need to be. We are looking for an experienced, CPC-qualified Fleet Manager to take ownership of our ~180-strong van fleet — and our growing HGV operation — based out of our Kings Norton warehouse in Birmingham. You'll keep every vehicle compliant, safe, and on the road, act as our nominated Transport Manager as we expand into heavier vehicles, and drive down the cost of running the fleet.
Responsibilities- Own the day-to-day management of our mixed fleet (~180 sub-3.5t diesel and petrol-hybrid vans, plus HGVs as we add them), keeping every vehicle roadworthy and available.
- Act as our nominated Transport Manager on the Operator Licence, taking legal responsibility for HGV compliance — drivers' hours, tachographs, walkaround checks, and scheduled maintenance/inspections in line with Traffic Commissioner requirements.
- Manage all servicing, maintenance, MOT, and repair schedules across the fleet, minimising downtime and coordinating with garages and service providers.
- Ensure full compliance with UK fleet, Operator Licence, and road safety regulations, maintaining accurate records for every vehicle.
- Own fleet running costs - negotiate and manage leasing, fuel, insurance, tyres, and parts contracts to drive down total cost of ownership.
- Manage insurance renewals and oversee accident/incident claims and investigations through to resolution.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure duty-of-care obligations are met, working alongside the operations team.
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) — road haulage (HGV) section. Legally required to be named on our Operator Licence for vehicles over 3.5t.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing a sizeable mixed van/HGV fleet (ideally 100+ vehicles).
- Demonstrated experience as a nominated Transport Manager, with strong knowledge of Operator Licence obligations, drivers' hours, tachographs, and HGV maintenance regimes.
- Strong working knowledge of UK fleet compliance for sub-3.5t vehicles - MOT, servicing, roadworthiness, and duty of care.
- Confident using fleet management software and telematics.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills.
- Full UK driving license (HGV entitlement a plus).
Competitive base salary with performance-related bonuses. Full-time, stable employment in a rapidly growing sector. Opportunities for professional development. The chance to work alongside a world-class team building the future of the global energy grid.
