The British Academy of Photography is a leading provider of quality Photography courses. We offer both online/distance learning and blended learning classroom-based options.
We are currently recruiting a suitable candidate for the role of classroom tutor, based at Birmingham B2 5EP. Classes will take place on Wednesday evenings (6.30pm - 9.00pm) for 24 weeks, commencing 18th February 2026, and two Saturdays per month for the duration of the 12-week intake. There are also opportunities for bi-monthly Saturday classes in future intakes. This role is ideal for an established photographer looking to develop or extend their teaching experience. This is a freelance position.
Teaching Schedule:
- Wednesdays: 6.30pm – 9.00pm (24 weeks, starting 18 February 2026)
- Additional Saturday work may be available for future intakes
- Saturdays: Two per month (12-week intake)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging classroom sessions (teaching materials provided)
- Support student skill development, creativity, and problem-solving
- Provide clear, practical feedback during classes
- Apply current industry practice to teaching delivery
- Liaise with the Academic Team on student progress, as required
Essential Requirements:
- Degree (or Level 6 qualification) in Photography
- Professional photography experience with a strong portfolio
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong communication and digital skills
- Ability to work independently and confidently in a classroom
Desirable:
- Teaching, lecturing, mentoring, or training experience
- Teaching or training qualification
