ONLINE TRADING MANAGER
We have an exciting opportunity for a Online Trading Manager to join our team based in Milton Keynes. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return will receive a competitive salary. We are looking for a results-focused Online Trading Manager to take ownership of our eCommerce performance and growth.
In this role, you will drive online sales by maximising conversion, ensuring our products are presented in the most compelling way and optimising the customer journey. You will use data and insights to shape trading decisions, deliver impactful merchandising, and test new ideas that enhance both customer experience and commercial outcomes. We want someone who is proactive, customer-centric, and thrives in a fast-moving digital retail environment.
What you will be doing as our Online Trading Manager
- Own the day-to-day trading of the website to deliver sales, margin, and digital KPIs
- Develop and implement weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual trade plans aligned with revenue, margin, and EBITDA targets
- Lead trade meetings to review performance, share insights, and identify future opportunities to drive growth
- Manage weekly and monthly forecasting of sales KPIs
- Collaborate with Buying team on range availability and product opportunities
- Collaborate with wider Multichannel team to develop and manage the digital trading calendar, ensuring alignment with marketing campaigns, product launches, promotions, and seasonal activity
- Work cross-functionally with Content, UX/UI, CRM, and Performance Marketing to ensure seamless execution of campaigns and traffic-driving activity
- Monitor and analyse on-site performance (conversion, bounce rate, AOV, exit rates, category/product/homepage metrics)
- Manage trading reports and dashboards to track KPIs and share insights with senior leadership
- Adopt a data-led approach to decision-making using analytics tools & platforms. Experience in GA & Contentsquare is preferred
- Deliver best-in-class on-site visual merchandising and customer experience
- Manage and optimise smart search & merchandising platforms to enhance product discovery, personalisation, and relevance
- Work closely with UX team to support experimentation activity interpreting results to inform optimisation strategies and analyse behavioural data and drive continuous improvements across the funnel
Key skills and attributes
- Proven experience in ecommerce trading within a retail or consumer brand environment, experience in furniture retail is preferred
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering sales growth, margin improvement, and digital KPIs
- Deep understanding of ecommerce metrics and analytics, with hands-on experience using GA, Contentsquare, or similar tools. Experience managing advanced search and merchandising platforms (e.g., Algolia, Advanced Commerce, Nosto)
- Strong understanding of digital marketing levers (CRM, performance marketing, content) and how they impact trading performance
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
