HEAD OF IT
We currently have a fantastic opportunity within Furniture Village for a talented and ambitious Head of IT . You will join our team based in Slough on a full time, permanent basis and in return will receive a competitive salary of £110,000 – £120,000 per annum .
This role will lead the IT team and report into the Business Development and IT Director who is a Main Board member with accountability for ‘Doing Better Things and Doing Things Better’ and hence improving the performance of the organisation as a whole.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop into the role of Head of IT and ultimately provide succession to the current Director. Coaching and mentoring into this role will be a key part of the relationship between the Head of IT and the Director of IT.
Key responsibilities our Head of IT will have:
- Accountable for the day to day running of all IT operational systems across the business.
- Accountable for the security of data across all IT systems and devices in accordance with GDPR and company policies.
- Accountable for leading the introduction of new developments and systems into operational service.
- Being the deputy to the Director of IT and representing them and Furniture Village internally and externally as needed.
- To drive a culture of customer service excellence, continuous improvement, innovation and cost-effective service and solution delivery.
- To look to the future to identify cost effective service improvements and innovations.
- To improve the professionalisation and best practice of IT delivery and innovation within FV.
- To contribute to the continuing development of FV as a rewarding, enjoyable and fun place to be.
- Manage the FV IT Services team.
- Manage contracts and billing processes with third parties.
- Own the IT Capital and Revenue budgets for all day to day services and equipment, providing annual budgets and maintaining accurate forecasts.
- Ensure that all operational systems are accurately documented and supported and have adequate capacity and performance headroom to not cause a detrimental impact to effective running of systems.
Our successful Head of IT will have the following skills and experience:
- Degree desirable but not essential. Additional qualifications in Service and Project Management would be a bonus but working knowledge of both with examples is essential. It is unlikely that a person with less than 8 years’ experience in a similar IT role would have the experience necessary to excel in this role but not impossible.
- A demonstrably good track record in delivery.
- Have a background in Infrastructure and Service Management.
- Able to talk to business colleagues in business, commercial language and simplify technology, adapting language to their level of understanding.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement both internally and external.
- Experience in negotiation of supply services and agreements with ITC contractors and suppliers.
- Experience in business re-engineering and transformation programs would be a bonus.
- Experience in change management and its implementation across the business and IT.
- A natural passion for continuous improvement, quality and a ‘can-do attitude’.
- Demonstrated ability in developing IT strategy whilst delivering on operational requirements.
- Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills and experience across a multi-disciplined business.
- Ability to build a best practice environment applying formal analysis skills and tools to document, assess and evaluate solution proposals.
