Training course: Engineering maintenance technician - dual discipline (level 3)
Hours: Shifts to be confirmed, 37 hours a week
Duration: 3 years 6 months
Work: Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.
What you’ll do at work:
- You will gain experience of working with system fault diagnostics, where you will need to demonstrate excellent problem‑solving skills to identify and resolve problems.
- Responsible for servicing mechanical equipment across site facilities.
- You will work to drawings, manufacturer manuals and schedules to comply with legislation with a particular attention to detail.
- You will learn how to operate plant equipment, working with hydraulics.
- Some examples of this equipment would be CNC machines, lathes, industrial gas distribution and pneumatic tooling.
- All work you carry out in your daily role should be in line with BAE Systems safe systems of work.
- You will be moved around different areas of the department to gain a full understanding of the maintenance requirements set by the business.

Requirements:
GCSE in: 5 GCSE Inc Maths, English & Science or Technical (grade A*-C or 9‑4 or equivalent). Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
