In this role you will
- Administration and maintenance of the Production Oracle Database and its environment so that it is performant and accessible.
- Administration and maintenance of DR and secure backups of the Database environment.
- Working with Cyber Security officer, ensure the security of all data at rest and in transit.
- Liaise with Third Party and Oracle Support to resolve issues affecting the Unix and Oracle Estate.
- Administration and maintenance of the Society’s Solaris Servers and Linux VMs.
- Provide suitable testing environments to the Business when requested.
- Monitor systems and build weekly reports on Storage, Performance and Security where applicable.
- Ensure all relevant documentation is maintained and updated under change control.
- Act as 2nd Line Support escalation point for any Oracle and Solaris software or hardware issues.
- Assist the Data Team with their Technical Requests and requirements, allocating Oracle and Solaris Hardware and Software where needed so that they are able to support the business in their day-to-day MI tasks.
What you will bring
- Minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
- Previous experience of working in a customer service role, preferably within an IT environment.
- Good experience/understanding of Oracle, Linux and Unix platforms
- Understanding of general networking.
- Knowledge/understanding of MS SQL
- Strong attention to detail, high standard of accuracy.
- Basic awareness of Microsoft Cloud technologies such as Azure (desirable)
