Private Client Lawyer
2–5 years’ PQE | Canterbury, Chatham or Whitstable.
We are looking for a motivated and client-focused Private Client Lawyer, qualified as either a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEx), to join our established and highly regarded Private Client team.
The role can be based at any of our offices in Canterbury, Chatham or Whitstable, with the flexibility to work from home following an initial settling-in period.
About the role
You will join a respected team with recognised expertise in wills and estate planning, acknowledged by The Legal 500. You will manage a varied caseload of private client matters, providing clear, practical and tailored advice to clients on a range of personal and estate planning needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting wills and other legal documents, deeds and correspondence.
- Advising on estate planning and tax planning, particularly inheritance tax.
- Advising on and assisting with the administration of estates for lay executors.
- Administering estates where the firm is appointed as professional executor.
- Advising on the use of trusts.
- Advising on, preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney.
- Providing advice on a broad range of general private client matters, excluding conveyancing.
About you
You will have between two and five years’ post-qualification experience, with a sound working knowledge of the key areas of private client law outlined above.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to build strong relationships with clients from all backgrounds and deliver consistently high standards of client care. You will also be self-motivated, well organised and confident managing your own caseload with minimal supervision.
A STEP qualification, or a commitment to working towards one, would be an advantage.
