Overview

Job title: Out-Of-School Club Playworker. Responsible to: Out-Of-School Club Supervisor. Purpose of job: To assist the Centre Supervisor/Manager to provide high quality OFSTED Registered Wrap-Around Care for our Primary school children. To provide a safe, stimulating, and friendly environment for our families. To compliment and implement all of our Out-Of-School Policies.

Responsibilities

  • Care for young children receiving Out-Of-School Care. Term Time only.
  • Assist the Club Supervisor in planning, and implementing a programme of activities focused on development through play.
  • Take part in the collection of children from Moorfield school, liaising with staff to update daily alterations to the register and ensure Hi-Viz jackets are visible on all children.
  • Assist the Club Supervisor in organising a range of play activities and help produce Monthly and Weekly Play plans and implement them.
  • Take part in staff room rotas and help set up and clean/sanitize all rooms daily, ready for the next session.
  • Complete routine administrative duties to support the efficient running of the club: register children in/out with continuous head counts, handle phone calls and communications with parents at reception, drop-off and pick-up, and maintain up-to-date records (Daily Health & Safety check lists, First Aid and Accident records, safeguarding concerns, medical details and incident forms).
  • Assist with provision of refreshments, ensuring adequate provisions are available and all allergies and food intolerance checks have been carried out. Complete Food Hygiene Training.
  • Implement emergency procedures in the event of a fire or accident. Model safe behaviour and encourage safety from children.
  • Complete basic Key worker duties in line with Funky Monkey’s EYFS policy: complete initial assessments from home and alongside school; on entry and at consistent intervals, build a good relationship with Keyworker children and families for ongoing development assessment.
  • Safeguarding: Stay up-to-date with the Club Safeguarding Policy & Procedures; know whom to contact for concerns; regularly check the Staff Safeguarding wall to update knowledge. Complete Level 2 Saf safeguarding Training.
  • Other duties: work within relevant policies and legislation to support physical, emotional, cultural and religious needs of young children; promote effective partnership with parents/carers/school/service users; adhere to Data Protection regulations; maintain confidentiality.
  • Provide direct intervention to maintain: defined standards of cleanliness and hygiene; responses to First Aid needs (Complete Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course); respond to the personal needs of children, including hygiene and cleanliness.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Approachable, punctual, reliable, caring, a team player with an understanding of confidentiality.
  • Good communication and organisational skills; ability to care for children and keep them safe.
  • Experience of working with children aged 4-11 in formal or informal settings.
  • Knowledge of OFSTED Regulations and implementation; knowledge of organising and supervising children’s activities for both inside and outside play.
  • DBS enhanced check (the Club will apply if not already on the Update Service).

Desirable Training (Provided)

  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Safeguarding / Prevent Duty Training
  • Current Paediatric First Aid Qualification
  • Planning activities; observing and assessing children at play
  • Experience of working with Special Needs and abilities; EYFS knowledge

Working Hours

Monday - Friday 3.15 - 6.00pm / 3 x Breakfast Club 7.40-8.40 (16 hours 45 minutes)

Pay

National Living Wage (21+): £12.21 per hour.

Notes

*Paid pro rata: Full school year (190 school days = 38 weeks) x weekly wage. Paid over 12 months.
