Fundment is a scaling wealth infrastructure company, building on our cutting-edge digital investment system to transform the £3 trillion UK wealth management market. We are passionate about revolutionising the investment experience for financial advisers and their clients by combining our innovative proprietary technology with exceptional customer service.

As an Application Support Engineer at Fundment, you will be responsible for maintaining the stability and reliability of our platform in production. You will act as the first line of response for live issues, working to diagnose problems, stabilise systems, and keep the business operating while longer-term fixes are developed.

This role requires strong problem-solving ability, sound technical judgement, the confidence to investigate issues across the stack and provide business continuity. You will work closely with the Application Support Lead, engineering teams, and operational stakeholders to resolve incidents, improve system behaviour, and reduce recurring issues over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong understanding of Fundment platform, including core business workflows such as trading, cash movements (internal and external), and daily processing, as well as relevant regulatory processes such as pension management and trade reporting.
  • Monitor production systems and scheduled jobs, including mission-critical start and end of day processes, identifying and responding to failures quickly.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues by analysing logs, data and system behaviour, applying safe mitigations to restore service where possible.
  • Take ownership of stabilising live issues, prioritising actions that minimise business impact and keep operations running.
  • Triage incidents based on urgency and business impact, ensuring critical issues are escalated promptly with clear context.
  • Investigate issues using SQL, logs, and system tooling to trace failures, validate system state, and identify root causes.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to reproduce issues, provide detailed context, and validate fixes, ensuring durable solutions are implemented.
  • Support production releases by validating readiness, monitoring behaviour post-deployment, and identifying issues early.
  • Maintain clear documentation of incidents, known issues, and troubleshooting approaches to improve team effectiveness.
  • Contribute to improving monitoring, alerting, and operational processes to reduce incident frequency and improve response times.
Essential Experience
  • 8+ years in application support, production support, or a technical operations role supporting live systems.
  • Experience working with business-critical applications where uptime, correctness, and timeliness matter.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, with a track record of diagnosing and resolving production issues under pressure.
  • Comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams, communicating clearly during incidents.
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments preferred.
Technical Capability
  • Confident working with SQL to investigate data issues and validate system behaviour.
  • Experience using GCP log explorer and monitoring tools to diagnose production issues (e.g. GCP Logging, Datadog).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based systems and distributed applications.
  • Ability to trace issues across services, understand failure modes, and reason about system state.
  • Scripting ability (e.g. Python) to automate repetitive tasks or support investigations.
  • Working knowledge of APIs, basic networking concepts, and web applications.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern deployment environments is beneficial.
