Decision Scientist (Credit)
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity perfect for a talented individual who has recently graduated with a degree in a quantitive focus (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Economics). This role is specifically designed to set a new graduate up for success, so we are exclusively considering applicants with this profile.
This role sits in the Credit Risk team who are hugely influential to our overall lending process. They look at measuring our risk, optimising our credit risk funnel and forecasting the performance of our loan portfolios. To do this, they work with the credit risk modelling, engineering, data management, capital markets and business operations teams to truly understand our objectives and shape analytical solutions.

The role
This role focuses on our Credit Risk lending capabilities. You'll be given the opportunity to think outside the box and come up with a wide range of suggestions and ideas to optimise our ability to lend to small businesses, while also delivering strong returns for our investors.
- Primarily responsible for monitoring our Credit Strategy to identify useful trends and opportunities to optimise our lending strategy
- Involved with all aspects of credit strategy analytics, from loss rate forecasting to segmentation analysis
- Guiding business decisions by carrying out ad hoc analysis, providing credit risk insights and recommendations for optimising credit risk strategies and business processes
- Collaborate with experts from different functions, particularly Engineering and Operations, to ensure daily running of our lending business and to implement any Credit Strategy changes
- Proactively problem solving, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day
What we're looking for
- A degree from numerical subjects such as Mathematics, Engineering or Science
- No work experience required, but work experience is advantageous, particularly in credit risk analytics / portfolio analytics, ideally in a Retail/Corporate/Investment Banking context
- Experience in guiding business decisions through analytical insights, ideally covering all steps from initial stakeholder engagement and business analysis to data analysis and presentation of the results
- Excellent communication skills, particularly with regards to translating data analyses and numbers into actionable insights tailored to the audience
- Some understanding of the principles of portfolio modelling, particularly cash flow modelling and measurement of performance
- Adequate to fluent in Excel and coding, any of: SQL, R, Python, Tableau (candidates with experience in other environments e.g. SAS and aptitude to quickly learn will also be considered)
- Curious and eager to learn, and comfortable working independently on solving open-ended problems
