The role
- We are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer with an excellent track record of technical leadership for our Product Engineering team.
- The role sits within our Short Term Credit Engineering Group and leads the team responsible for the cutting‑edge platform our customers use to apply and manage their credit products.
- Staff Engineers are among the most senior leaders within our Technology function and are responsible for raising the bar and enabling us to achieve the incredible.
- Collaborate with product leadership early to understand business goals and shape the technical direction.
- Translate goals into a target system and data architecture with clear milestones.
- Write clear and thorough technical designs and standards.
- Maintain high standards, drive continuous improvement, and inspire others to elevate their work.
- Identify and leverage generative AI tools and techniques to drive innovation and transform engineering processes.
- Coach Lead Engineers, provide feedback, and support their personal development as a role model for aspiring Staff Engineers.
- Perform deep‑dives and troubleshoot issues hands‑on, while enabling teams rather than becoming a dependency.
- Manage stakeholders and present technology solutions, risks, and trade‑offs to any audience across Funding Circle, influencing without direct authority.
- Take accountability for high‑level solution design and technology decisions within the Group.
- Apply sound commercial acumen and understand how technology drives top and bottom line outcomes.
- Represent Funding Circle externally at events, sharing industry trends and attracting talent.
