Join to apply for the Senior Engineer role at Funding Circle UK. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Credit Risk Platform team, part of the Core Services department. This team builds and refines technology that delivers nearâinstant credit decisions. As a Senior Software Engineer you will evolve our bespoke decision engine, collaborate with talented peers, and help shape our credit strategy implementation.

Responsibilities:
- Love building new things and also digging into a legacy codebase.
- Work in a complex problem domain with simple software systems.
- Have an interest or experience in Functional Programming, microservices and/or eventâdriven architecture.
- Collaborate â encourage pairing and believe that teamwork wins over siloed work.
- Teach â generously share time and expertise with stakeholders and fellow engineers.
- Proactively solve problems, identify and mitigate risks, issues, or control weaknesses.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Python preferred; strong knowledge of at least one generalâpurpose language (e.g., Ruby) acceptable.
- Experience with Clojure or another functional language (Scala, Haskell, Elixir, F#) ideal but not required.
- Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms).
- Excellent written and spoken communication.
- Experience leading and delivering endâtoâend software projects.
- Interest or experience in functional programming, distributed systems or eventâdriven architectures (e.g., Apache Kafka).
- Knowledge of decision engines a plus.
- Openness to learn and work with different technologies.
