We are looking for a Credit Underwriter in our Underwriting team. Our Underwriting Team helps small businesses raise funding by assessing the creditworthiness of each borrower to give them access to our fast and flexible loans. The Credit Underwriter role will expose you to a fastâpaced, highâperformance lending culture and expand your skill set for a successful career in risk management.

The role:
- Analyse data (annual accounts, bank statements, credit reference agency data) to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit to SME borrowers on a loanâbyâloan basis.
- Enhance the quality of loan decisions by integrating market, industry, and portfolio insights into your credit decisions.
- Further your knowledge of UK SMEs, including accounting practices, industry and financing standards, payment behaviour and relevant legal aspects to help us evaluate credit risk correctly.
- Provide a bestâinâclass experience for our borrowers by reviewing all loan applications efficiently and in accordance with our internal quality standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of systems, processes and business practices by sharing recommendations to improve efficiency and capacity.
- Advise and guide colleagues to ensure that commercial opportunities are maximized without compromising Funding Circle's risk management.
- Proactively problemâsolve, identify and confidently mitigate any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your dayâtoâday activities.
