fundcraft is a digital fund operations platform for private markets, providing regulated AIFM services, core fund administration, and an LP investor portal to emerging, established, and institutional managers.
As we gain large-cap client traction, we are building out two growth areas at once: the UK market and the private-equity buy-out segment.
About the role
We are hiring a Head of UK & Buy-Out to own both.
You will build a new business line from the ground up: set the strategy, win the first flagship mandates, and grow the team and partner network around them.
The role sits alongside our other market and segment leads (Head of France & Evergreen; Head of Client Service & Asset Managers).
Buy-out mandates sit with this role regardless of geography; UK opportunities outside buy-out are coordinated with the relevant segment lead.
For the first one to two years the role is heavily sales-focused. Your priority is pipeline and signed mandates; team-building follows the revenue.
The position is based in London and reports to our CEO, working day to day with our VP Sales on pipeline, pricing and deal execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales (primary focus, years 1-2)
- Own the full sales cycle for UK managers and institutional PE buy-out clients across Europe, from prospecting to signed mandate.
- Personally originate and close flagship mandates that establish Fundcraft’s credibility in the buy-out segment.
- Generate pipeline through your network of GPs, LPs, advisers and ecosystem partners (law firms, auditors, placement agents, distributors).
- Negotiate commercial terms and lead complex deal processes involving C-level and senior finance decision-makers.
- Maintain accurate pipeline and forecast reporting in the CRM.
- Business-line build-out
- Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for the UK and the buy-out segment, with the CEO, VP Sales and Marketing.
- Own the segment’s revenue targets and P&L contribution, and set segment pricing within the framework agreed with the CEO and VP Sales.
- Shape the buy-out proposition with Product, Legal and Operations, bringing client and market insight back into the roadmap.
- Build Fundcraft’s UK presence: partnerships, events, industry bodies and brand.
- Hire and lead the UK and buy-out team as the business scales.
- Work with Client Onboarding, Client Success and Operations to ensure smooth handover of won accounts.
- What success lookis like in the first 12-18 months
- First flagship buy-out mandates signed, establishing Fundcraft as a credible provider in the segment.
- A qualified pipeline of [value / number of mandates] across the UK and European buy-out market.
- An active London partner network (law firms, auditors, placement agents) generating referrals.
- A clear go-to-market and hiring plan for the UK and buy-out team.
- 10+ years in alternative fund services or fund administration, including at least 5 in a commercial role selling to institutional private-equity buy-out clients.
- Strong knowledge of alternative fund structuring, including Luxembourg vehicles (SCSp, RAIF); experience with UK managers using Luxembourg structures is a strong plus.
- Proven track record of building a business line or market from scratch and closing large, complex institutional deals.
- Established, active network with institutional buy-out GPs, LPs and advisers, particularly in London, usable to generate pipeline from day one.
- Deep understanding of the PE buy-out fund lifecycle and the operational and administrative needs of institutional GPs.
- Consultative, solution-led sales approach; credible with partners, CFOs and COOs.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills, with a track record of closing large deals.
- Entrepreneurial and hands-on: comfortable selling personally while setting strategy, then building a team.
- Fluent English; French is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel across core European markets, including regular time in Luxembourg and Girona.
- Join a culture that celebrates creativity and welcomes innovative, disruptive ideas, empowering you to make a real impact.
- Immerse yourself in a fast-paced, diverse workplace where you'll have the chance to collaborate and learn from specialists across various fields, fostering personal and professional growth.
- Embrace automation and seamless tech integration in your workflows, while our platform boosts operations through tech leverage, ensuring you stay ahead of the curve and updated with new technologies.
